• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Latest PPS with Windows 11 Snapdragon X Elite connection issue

Trying to program my Unication G5 pager with my Dell XPS computer. Is there a known issue with the PPS and Snapdragon X Elite processor? My pager makes the connection sound and charges when I plug it in but it won’t connect to the PPS. Tried downloading the drivers and still the same issue. Looked at the USB and serial settings under the Device Manager and all show connected with no errors. I’m now using a cheap Lenovo with an Intel i5 processor with no issues. Just curious if anyone else is having issues with these new Snapdragon PC’s.

Has it, though? The question is specifically about that particular processor, which is ARM based. I wouldn't assume that the Unication-provided driver would support that, but I don't know.....

Has anyone figured out how to use the PPS with a Snapdragon Processor? I have a new Surface Laptop and I have tried everything to include installing the drivers and it's a no go so far.

With introduction of Apple M (ARM) and Qualcom Cpu's and ARM Windows it is a high time to ask Radio software developers to come forward and list supported CPU's and models their software run on in native mode. Or specified otherwise way around limitations.
Many run only on Intel CPU's.

Yes, similar to the folks with Mac computers. People are clamoring for compatibility. Apps like Google drive and Adobe InDesign and Illustrator are not (or were not initially) supported. My guess is arm for windows will be supported and the Mac users will keep asking for support.

My guess is this lack of compatibility is why surface laptops are discounted several hundred dollars at sites like Costco.

Unfortunately, you're probably correct about the Mac part. And at the rate I keep having problems with Windows every update (well or many of them) it gets old.

Not really Apple intel application general work on Apple Silicon. Because Apple created a very good translation layer to transtale the X64 commands to Apple Silicon commands. The issue with PPS, the need drivers that only work with x64 and x32. At some point I might play and see if can gett it working on crossover on my m4 mac but since it works fine on my desktop with amd it not high pressing need
