All three pf the software programs that can program the WS1065 (and all the related Whistler & original GRE scanners, can do the remote control. (Win500, PSREdit500, and ARC500 (the "Pro" version)) can do that.

Just to make sure. I can use the Win500 Monitor/Control feature on this scanner?

I have the paid version of ARC500 Basic. I presently have it connected to my PRO-106. I see the scanner display on my computer and I am able to control the scanner from the computer.
My copy of ARC500 Basic has no virtual control.
My copy of ARC500 Pro on my main radio computer does have VC.

Did Gommert screw up maybe with the version you purchased? Was your copy of Basic possibly upgraded from Basic to Pro but the Help/About screen does not indicate Pro? Or was it a special deal maybe when you purchased it.

You're the first person that I've seen mention that says ARC500 Basic has VC.
Interesting but also seems very strange!

Under the Help tab, About shows ARC500 2.06 Build 1. I have had the software for a very long time. The Pro version may not have been available at the time I purchased ARC500. I know that virtual control is not available in the basic versions of other ARC software. I don't see any mention of logging in my version. Where does it show up in the Pro version? It is possible that buyers of the original ARC500 software are grandfathered with virtual control. Taking away features in updates would arouse anger and loss of customers. I have updated the software many times and the virtual control option remains.

The Butel website indicates both Basic and Pro ARC500 have virtual control.
I sure couldn't find that info! Exactly what I was looking for however. Butel changed their site big time since I was last on the site.

Do you have a link to the page at the Butel site where you saw this?

I see the difference in the two versions at the links @KevinC just posted.
Under the Pro version, the details tab says Virtual Control. Under the Basic version, the details tab says "Basic" Virtual Control.

I didn't read into what the difference is between Basic's "Basic Virtual Control" and Pro's "Virtual Control".
I think I should check my basic version and let it check for updates or just download the latest basic version! I bet I've not upgraded it in ages as I don't use it much.

Thanks guys

The basic version has just the VC window, and the pro version adds a grid with several functions below the VC window......

Comparing the features listed in those two Butel links, ARC500-PRO adds the following:

ARC500 PRO: history logger
ARC500 PRO: digital audio recorder
ARC500 PRO: scanlist quick buttons
ARC500 PRO: automatic resume/lockout options
"Full Virtual scanner control with 'mini view' option" is listed for both the Basic and Pro versions.

Were you able to find virtual control in ARC500 Basic? This sounds like Twilight Zone material.
I never had a chance to fire up that computer and take a look.
Been taking advantage of the spring like temps we have right now while I work up on the flat roof swapping and testing antennas across different bands.
