• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm trying to convert about 100 type-II talkgroup ID's from Uniden or Hex format to type-I fleet/subfleet format. I know the Type-I size code needs to be provided, but once supplied there should be mathmatical way to do make the conversion. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks for the link. I actually looked at that yesterday and it pointed out a couple of things that helped me better understand the type-I stuff. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any information on converting a talkgroup ID from a Type-II system to a fleet/sub-fleet in a type-I arrangement.

Why do I want to do this? I'm trying to 'revive' an old Standard HX580T, which does type-1 trunking, to monitor a type-II system.

I've programmed the type-II system as Type-I in my BC-780 and can reliably search for and follow talkgroups in that format. Using the Fleet/Subfleet information displayed by the 780, I programmed the HX580T for the 15 or so ID's that were active yesterday.

I would like to convert the rest of the list (about 100 Type-II or Uniden ID's) and finish the programming the 580T that way. :)

It took me about half a day of constant monitoring ( and failed programming attempts  ) to determine the size code. I finally settled on size B. It doesn't appear that I'm missing anything on the ID's I've been able to program. Luckily all of the ID's that I want to monitor are < 8192 (Block 1)in the type-II system.

The links on the page are dead - Can someone repost the info - I have a good fleetmap of a type 1 hybrid moto system, have logged lots of ID's in type ii format, but have no way to reference the type i id's to the type ii id's. System owner gave the fleet id for a particular group I'm interested in monitoring. He gave me fleet 205 and says it in hex. This is the fleet id programed into his system and the user's radios- Any help converting it to uniden would be appreciated.
Thanks, Norto
