it's about happening now. unless we develope new technologies and theories, we will be running out of real estate in the magnetic spectrum.

there are some way out there theories about what technologies we might develope such as subspace communications, etc.

there is lots of info out there if you google it.

"I have heard" that you are able to pick up the 46-49 Mhz phones from over 2 miles away thru a dipole in the attic. Those that have listened usually pick up an address during a call sooner or later. I'm sure others will correct me, but, given the same transmission power, a signal travels farther at lower freq. My 900 Mhz phone makes about 450' base to handset, all of the newer stuff doesn't even come close although I'd like to obtain a newer model, I don't want to loose the range. Strange, Consumer Reports used to rate range on cordless phones but mysteriously stopped a number of years back?????

I'm not sure your assumption about "same transmission power" is correct. Also, most published data that I found refers to distance between base and handset. Distance between base and unrelated receiver with outdoor antenna is another matter. In "the day" I regularly pulled in base transmissions from a mile or more away in the 46 MHz area. Not so in the 900 range.

Most common pick ups on the 46 - 49Mhz frequency range are the baby monitors in my area. Have not herd phone conversations in a few years except when living in town and they were pretty active. Ironic thing was my sons walkie - talkies are using the 49.830, 49.860 frequencies that also use baby monitors and old cordless phones. I would say maybe a quarter watt if that for out-put?

I use the 5.8 cordless phone at home and not as impressed with the range from the 900mhz used to have. I Could cover my hole acre yard plus with 900 the 5.8 can't even get to the end of drive-way.

I Was thinking of getting another 900mhz to replace but they are not found easy or the models they have are not that great looking.

The range of a cordless phone is about as far as you can throw a brick. That’s intentional because there are a finite number of frequencies available. The range that one can intercept a cordless phone transmission can be as much as two miles from the base unit.
