Favorite and Least Favorite Scanners?

Favorites: Uniden UBC200XLT, UBC9000XLT, BC785D, UBC396XT, RS PRO-96, GRE PSR-500 and Whistler TRX1 & 2

Least favorite scanners: Trident TRX-100, Alinco DJ-X2000 (bad performance), RS PRO-99 (awful), Uniden BC2500XLT (terrible), AOR-8200 Mark I (poor shielding and low sensitivity)

I have said this before...the absolute worst was the Uniden BC350A.
It was a nightmare to program and heard images all across the spectrum.
Just a horrible scanner in every way possible.

Mine burned with smoke coming out of it. I returned it and the second one did the same. The offered me a 300 in exchange and it worked well until the display dimmed. No one could fix it, although it lasted about 10 years. I'm now using scanners that are 17 years old and have them on about 12-14 hours a day.

Worst scanner: TRX-1 (or -2). Horrible things.

Actually I agree. I have a TRX-1 here I'd love to get rid of but it's almost not worth the effort to post a for sale ad, that's how much I hate this thing. Had the TRX-2 also and was happy to get rid of it.

I was so upset about the TRX-1 that I wrote a review and shared with all (including Whistler). They actually made changes to their software afterwards, but you can fix many of the issues in the software (or firmware).
