Have you tried looking the counties up in the database here on RadioReference?

Like Jim said check the database here. Look for things like Encryption, MOTOTRBO, DMR, iDEN, and NXDN (NEXEDGE), none of which can be received on a scanner. On trunked systems look for an "E" in the talk group's Mode Column which indicates Encryption.

Also on EDACS systems if ProVoice is in use the 436 will require the ProVoice upgrade available from Uniden.
