If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi everyone, been a long time background lurker for knowledge here.
I’ve got a few handhelds from Anytone to Alinco.
Was able to program them but took a long time mostly with the help of other hams and downloaded code plugs.
Been reading a lot about Motorola and how good their radios are so took the dive and purchased a used XPR7550e and bought the programming and cable.
When it comes to programming this radio my brain goes scrambled.
What I asking is if anyone can send me a blank code plug and I can fill it in.
thanks in advance.

If you're programming a used XPR7550e - I'd hope you got something that's still on CPS 16 build 828 - with firmware 2.09 or lower. If your radio's firmware version is 2.10 or higher, you would most likely be stuck using CPS 2.0 If you don't have to use CPS 2.0 - then do not upgrade to it. There's no advantage for a hobby user.

There's two different models/versions of the XPR7550e in UHF or VHF - there's the Capable version & the Enabled version. If you want someone to share a codeplug - it's best to post your complete model # - or take a picture of the labels on the back of the radio.

You have the radio. You can read the radio. Use the recover function and set it back to factory default. It's not difficult. Once that happens, save the blank archive, close it in CPS and re-read the radio. Then program it.

I’m starting to learn it but I’m very impatient.
I’m not used to this style of programming.
I’ll have questions, please bare with me.
On this programming when I select
Zone/Channel Assignment
Why does this channel of my choice have to be in a zone?
I’m used to picking zones at a later time, this program forces me to choose a zone.

On XPR-7550e radios you can have multiple zones, that is the reason why.

On CPS 2.0 I am able to print out all the settingsand or preferences on any channel.
This is my first time trying to program DMR on my local repeater.
CPS 2.0 let’s me print out settings and preferences for any channel.
When I key up my information comes up on that channel ( verified with another radio I have) but I cannot talk or listen on my XPR77550e.
Here is my print out of settings if anyone could see what I have done wrong.

For the repeater, see if you can get the color code. Your channel info has to match that.
My local repeater uses DCC=4
It works a little like a private line. Defaults are usually 1

Your codeplug is on Time Slot 1. I don't see in your repeater information if the Repeater is using Slot 1 or Slot 2 for your Talkgroup.

I also see that you've got a DMR ID# listed - who assigned that number to you? Are you using the same ID# in the other radios you are testing with? Does the repeater system use RAS (Restricted Access to System)?

You need to make sure that your Talkgroup ID is set up in your Receive list Group 1 - and then assign that Group in your radio's channel for that DMR system.

I figured out that the repeater I’m using is using Brandmeister. I had the talk group set to DMR MARC. I can now listen and talk. 😬😬
Attention to details
Thanks everyone for advice.
