• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So I have a MOL account as a HAM and have been able to get APX CPS ( Have an APX4000) and MotoTRBO CPS 2.0 ( for my XPR3500 and 6550) but somehow i cant find the Astro 25 download
under Entitlements/Software i do have access to ASTRO CPS and MOTOTRBO but it's only showing the APX CPS R30 to R35 for download

I'm looking Buying an XTS to add to my line of Moto HT and was trying to get familiar with the Astro 25 software beforehand

Any ideas on what would be the next step?

I think the Astro 25 stuff has gone obsolete/EOL
Ham files.dk might have some CPS in older versions.
I think I may have R20 laying around somewher. Been a few years since messing with Moto, I do have an XPR6550 I intend to play with.
You want the portable stuff for an XTS.

Keep in mind there are 2 CPS packages for ASTRO25. Mobile and Portable.

@n3obl gave you the right info to find it. Motorola doesn't license it, or offer it to people any more. People that licensed it in the past may have access still, but they won't give it to new account holders

The CPS archives that included the Astro 25 CPS' went away with the old Business Online portal little over two years ago. Motorola elected not to maintain the CPS archive files that are no longer supported. Mototrbo and APX is practically the only software supported and available through Motorola.

However, there are sources that will make the Motorola Vintage CPS' available and downloadable at no cost if you purchase their products.

Federal users may have access to it. But even Platinum level partners don't have any access any more. The old MOL was dropped a year ago and that is where it was. There is a legacy download section in MyView and its not there

Be aware, about 4yrs ago I needed Astro CPS and found it on what looked like a Russian site. I was desperate at the time with many radios to program and clicked the download button and within seconds my hard drive spun up and my computer was unresponsive. I quickly disconnected my LAN cable and shut down but lots of damage was done and it took months of work to carefully clean and scrub the computer with many different virus cleaning programs including the hosed bios.

If you get CPS off the Internet just make sure you are dealing with a trusted site and maybe point the download to a USB storage device, etc.
