• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I believe that I have the PTT working correctly in each direction, but the audio is not working.

The Tk-5710h works with direwolf (GitHub - wb2osz/direwolf: Dire Wolf is a software "soundcard" AX.25 packet modem/TNC and APRS encoder/decoder. It can be used stand-alone to observe APRS traffic, as a tracker, digipeater, APRStt gateway, or Internet Gateway (IGate). For more information, look at the bottom 1/4 of this page and in https://github.com/wb2osz/direwolf/blob/dev/doc/README.md) using an AUDIO2RIG with the same DB25 connector. (We have a few trackers that we use with S&R and map into SARTrack Search and Rescue Management system )

This is how I have the radio wired:
TK-8360 DB15 Pin-7 COR PTT TK-5710 DB25-Pin 4
TK-8360 DB15 Pin-5 DI (Audio In) TK-5710 audio out Radio DB25-Pin 6
TK-8360 DB15 Pin-15 Ground TK-5710 DB25-Pin 25
TK-8360 DB15 Pin-4 DO (Audio Out) TK-5710 audio in Radio DB25-Pin 17
TK-8360 DB15 Pin-6 PTT TOR TK-5710H DB25-Pin 20

My guess is that I have a cable logic issue or a programming issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I would be glad to test the suggested changes.

Which Audio? PTT or RX?

I have no audio from the TK-8360 to the TK-7510, and ultra-weak audio from the TK-7510 to the TK-8360 when the microphone sensitivity is set to high. (So low it might be that I think that I am hearing audio and may not be hearing anything).

A few errors here but the biggest problem is using DI/DO of the 8360 for voice audio. This really doesn't work unless you have additional interfaces added. DI/DO is for data communications.

I'd say the TK-8360 is the poorest choice to do this with. Do you have any other radios that would be easier to connect together? A TK-8180 is ideal.

DI may work on tx side, but instead if Do, I would use external speaker audio AND set volume level 1vpp or lower until transmitted audio on other radio sounds /looks right THEN unprogram the volume up/dwn buttons so it cant be changed accidently.
most KENWOODS can play together, some take more effort, and if one does not have proper test equipment, then its a toss up

If it helps, my friend, I'll share this configuration of two Kenwood radios, TK8302-7302.

Best regards
