Hearing "the lights are off in Middletown" on the State Police trunked system, the DMV talkgroup. Wondering what it means... Guessing it has to do with weigh scales? But don't remember any scales in Middletown. I hear it just about every day.

North bound exit 14. While the scales might not be always open, DMV and truck squad do a lot of inspections there.

Thanks for the input. I thought it was weigh scales but because I couldn't remember seeing any weigh stations on Rt. 9, I wondered about it. And I drove that piece of highway from new Britain to the Middletown Pratt & Whitney plant for years!
