Well, for a long time now I've been wanting to do a console install in my car. Unfortunately when I purchased my current car (used) I wasn't as interested in my hobbies as I am now, so I didn't look for a vehicle with consoles in mind. I'm driving a Pontiac G6 and I have determined it is basically impossible for me to ever install a console in this car. So what I did in the past was mount my mobile head in the cars factory center console, the good part about this is the radio can be discreetly covered with the arm rest. Anyway I'm looking for ideas on how I could flush mount my radios inside the cubby much like you would mount your equipment in a standard console. I'd like to use the faceplates used in standard consoles and somehow mount them inside the cubby under the armrest. Anyone have any ideas or have any experience with this frustrating issue? I have attached a picture of what it looks like now, and also a picture of a mock drawing I made of something that would fit inside the cubby so the radios can be flush mounted. Any input would be appreciated.
