BC125AT: Custom Scan

I just bought a BC125AT and have read most of the user’s manual. I understand how to scan the various Banks. How to turn them off and on. I need help setting up a Custom Scan. I haven’t been able to figure that one out yet. I want to be able to scan 163 – 174 MHz only. Can someone either point me in the right direction for a tutorial on this or perhaps help me with a step-by-step process.

The easy way is to use Scan125

However the manual way is to:

1) Press Search [Srch] button
2) Press Hold [Hold] button is scanner starts searching
3) Press Function [Func] button
4) Press Program [Pgm] button

You should now see a menu:

Save Frequency (highlighted)
Program Limits
......
......

5) Use Scroll button to select/highlight "Program Limits"
6) Press Enter [E] button
7) Use Scroll button to select/highlight "Search Bank n" where n is the number of the bank you want
8) Press Enter [E] button

You are now on the edit screen for your chosen Search Bank - will default to "Lower" and show the current frequency

9) Press Enter [E] button
10) Enter 163.0 on keypad
11) Press Enter [E] button

You are now on Lower with the new 163 frequency

12) Use Scroll button to select/highlight "Upper"
13) Repeat steps 9, 10 (enter 174.0) & 11

14) Press ./Clear [Clr] button repeatedly (goes back through menus) to get back to "Search Mode"

Thank you very much for your prompt and detailed reply. I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes. You're obviously very well versed in the operation of this scanner and I appreciate you taking the time to help me. I don;t recall seeing anything about this in the manual that came with my new scanner.

I followed your instructions. Again thanks for the details. I ran into one issue. Most likely my misunderstanding. I missed something and modified Bank 10 rather than creating a new Bank 11. Bank 10 DOES run the scan between 163 & 174. Would you mind expanding on your step #13 so I know how to create a "new" Bank.

You can't create a Bank 11. There are only 10 Search Banks just as there are only 10 Scan Banks.
