DAT showing with full signal strength on no signals TRS

Hi group,
a problem? I have just noticed and it just started yesterday. First the scanner is working great. When the scanner is scanning on this 1 site and there is no signal the bars are showing full signal strength with DAT (CC tx data) displayed all the time. I disconnected the antenna and the bars go back to nothing so it’s not the scanner. I have not touched any site settings… Besides the DAT and full signal strength when signals are received the scanner is working properly.

Assuming this is a trunked digital system, this is normal. DAT and full signal bars means you are receiving the control channel loud & clear.

yes it is a P25II trunking system but is it normal for this to happen when no signals are present and the scanner is scanning.

Yes. There is always a control channel active, whether or not there are any grants for actual voice traffic.

See page 30 of the 436/536 manual:

DAT Displays when data is received on a control channel in Receive/Hold Modes.

You will notice some other things showing up as well. Page 30 will tell you what they are and what they mean.

It could show DAT when you are manually on hold on that site, as the manual explains, but you where scanning. Then it could be that the control channel are sending data, maybe text messages or other info and the scanner get stuck on that data and doesn't continue to scan. I believe that Uniden have tried to fix that stuck problem but perhaps it still is some issues with the firmware code.
