I was looking at these new Davidson Co Tac Talkgroups.

My questions is are these new talkgroups assigned to each individual fire station?

Is this sort of the same set-up that is being used in McDowell and Randolph Counties.

Also was curious as to why they have a new talkgroup for both fire and ems. Seems strange to have two talkgroups labeled the same.

The last time I listened to Davidson Co they were still using the original old talkgroups.

Just curious to find out how the new talkgroups will be used

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

David

Yes the TACs are assigned to individual stations as of last week it seems.

So example station 37 gets a call for a working fire they get assigned station 37 tac.

Then Station 76 gets called to assist station 37. Station 76 will operate on station 37s TAC for that incident.

Wow sounds like a lot of radio space being taking up in the radios. Seems like if they programmed everybody's tac channels in the radio there wouldn't be any room to program any thing else.

Sounds like Davidson Co is trying to follow Rowan Co. However I was told that there tac channels were department specific radios. Example Station 46 Gold Hill's radio would be the only radios to have there talkgroup. The only agency in Rowan that would have all the departments tac channels would be the fire marshals radios.

Just wondering if this a new thing to happen. I have noticed that some of the McDowell fire departments are using the same concept.

Also wondering how dispatch is going to handle this, unless the incident commander is the only radio that will have communications with the communications center.

The only real reason I was asking is because I listen to Davidson Co once in a while, especially when there is an approaching storm or working fire with neighboring Rowan County.

Thanks for the update and info

it seems like dispatch is also monitoring the Station Tacs during an active incident
