Sorry ,I am confused.Looks to me this COUNTY system has NOTHING to do with the Owensboro CITY system? There will be 2 Sep trunked systems? or...

Yes. Two separate systems. So far the city has implemented 3 patches, for interoperability, between them.

So the NEW county system is LIVE?

So this post from last dec isnt totally right?
That is what they are doing, joining the city P25 system.

Not joining just three patches?

Thanks

With all due respect, my experience has been that information posted here about not yet fully constructed systems is rarely "totally right" after the fact.

Correct. They are not joining the city system. They have constructed their own separate system. The city utilizes a single site P25 Phase 1 system. The county will be utilizing a 3 site P25 Phase 2 simulcast system.

I didn't have a phase 2 capable scanner yet so I recently acquired a SDS100. After a lots of studying I was finally able to program the new P25 Phase 2 system (since it's not in the database). It's still in the testing phase and I've yet to hear any traffic on it. I live on the west side of Owensboro and the tower on Hobbs Road (site 2) is hammering me. The signal varies between -70 and -90 dBm (using an aftermarket antenna). I have it set up in trunking discovery mode so I'll see what I can come up with over time.

After dropping this much cash on a new scanner I'm praying the radio gods that this system doesn't end up being fully encrypted.

Can anyone advise the NAC, WACN, and/or system ID for the new county system as well as the current control channel?

I programmed the frequencies in the radio and this is what my radio says:
P25 NAC: 5E2h
WACN: BEE00h
Sys ID: 5ECh
858.262500MHz

According to the details above it is the same system. It's a new site acting as a 3-site simulcast cluster but it is still one large countywide system.

It is a lot cheaper to use one site controller for the City/County than each having to purchase the infrastructure for two completely separate systems. I was surprised Henderson County didn’t join in with the Owensboro trunked system instead of building a completely new system. Many times local officials don’t want the inter government agreements and having to coordinate with anyone else.

It looks like Owensboro’s site controller is linked to these three new Daviess County Sites.

I am getting conflicting submissions on this. From the attached jpgs, showing sysid, NAC, and WACN it appears to be same system/shared core/new site. This is how I have entered it into the DB for now.

If someone can run dsd, SDRTrunk or another analyzing program that may help.

I am running SDRTrunk against this system. Let me know what information I can provide to help.
Can you help clarify the current neighboring sites, NAC’s, SYS ID, and WACN as well as Talkgroups multicasting from the county simulcast cluster site to the city’s single site.

As mentioned above on everything I have received as well as the KY DB Admin has received, it’s the same system, with a new simulcast cluster site.

I am fairly new to SDRTrunk so see if any of it helps. As of yesterday they are starting signal testing throughout county for next 4-5 weeks. They are currently simulcasting the VHF DCSO and DCFD channel over to the existing Owensboro P25 Site 1 system and I have been monitoring that for a few months. I will provide whatever I can to help. As far as talk groups until they start testing them I am not sure what they are. 3001 is the only one I have seen and it is the same audio from Site 1 and VHF traffic for Daviess County Fire.

I'm also running SDRTrunk against the new county system. They are conducting testing throughout the county this week to confirm the requirements set in the contract were reached. Currently 2 different users are registering on the system on TGID 3001 which will become the county fire dispatch channel. I have attached the decode file SDR generates. I'm still pretty new to P25 systems so still learning.

I've got my SDS 100 in trunking discovery mode with logging and audio recording active. I work nights and sleep during the day. When I got up yesterday afternoon I checked my SDS 100 to see what was new (if anything). On one of the radio tech talkgroups I had 5 minutes worth of recordings of them saying nothing but "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog". That's a different take on radio testing. There for a minute I thought maybe I was back in typing class again.

This is fairly standard for radio/range testing.
