DE Public Safety

I have a BC246T and have been loading info from the database for Delaware Public Safety. I've tried several times but all I hear is data--no voice. I've tried loading freqs for all 3 counties and using ID search instead of scan and I still hear only data and no voice. The radio works fine and picks up voice with many of the other trunked entries in the database, including locally: Christiana Hospital and Delmarva Power.

Does anyone know if there are some frequencies that are missing in the database for DE public safety?

That's because the Del system is almost totally digital, which the 246 cannot handle. As you've already found out, you can hear the hospital and power companies, and with a good antenna, the various fireboard relays. I'm not sure what other public service freqs would be a target for the 246.
We've got a few Delaware members here, and I think if someone spotted a new freq, they'll jump in and tell us....

The only scanners that can handle the Delaware system are listed here Prepare for a little sticker shock or wait for a sale, or finding one on the used boards.

Until you upgrade to a digital trunking capable radio (ballpark of $500), you can certainly hear plenty of Delaware FD activity on the conventional analog re-broadcast freqs that are in our database (as Mike alluded to in his posting). PD activity is not routinely re-broadcast on analog freqs.

Delaware Public Safety database covers a lot of ground, are you looking for police or fire?

Fire and many businesses can be received by any scanner, via voice. Except for Amtrak police, all Delaware police went to 800 Digital.
