Decoding Issue

The system I want to monitor/decode is summarized in the following way by radioreference.com

MTS FleetNet is an APCO-16 system which supports both analog and digital clear/secure encryption.

This system has 137 linked sites in 3 zones province wide with 6 conventional. It is the largest system of it's type in the world.

My question is will DSDplus or DSD be able to decode this motorola system? Or am I just wasting my time.

I have all the software setup but can't get dsd to spawn a decoding window...
Unitrunker is locked on and ready to roll...

You will need two receivers - one for the control channel and one for the voice channels in order to trunk the system. Otherwise you can just scan the voice channels, but you may miss parts of the conversations.

Thanks for the reply. But DSDplus is not popping up the decoded voice at all. DSDplus just sits there. The scope (waveform) is moving like crazy but I don't even have any decoded audio. Can dsdplus decode apco-16 systems?

After reviewing the text file I would say no as to DSDPlus decoding APCO-16 -

Decode D-STAR (no audio)
Decode NXDN4800 (Kenwood NEXEDGE and Icom IDAS)
Decode NXDN9600 (Kenwood NEXEDGE)
Decode DMR/MotoTRBO (TDMA inputs + both output slots)
Decode P25 Phase 1
Decode X2-TDMA
Decode ProVoice
Enable dPMR decoding (no audio)

They can help you decode the unencrypted digital voice channel. You can configure your Unitrunker voice role VCO / receiver to stream the discriminator audio to DSD(+).

Not sure I understand your comment. If you look at the beginning of my thread, I stated I was having a decoding issue with dsdplus. Anyone with intimate knowledge of dsdplus and if the manitoba fleetnet system here https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=537
can be decoded with dsdplus because I have an audio feed to dsdplus and the waveform window has active control channel input but NO other window pops up (decoding window). I am wondering if dsdplus is capable of decoding this system. Thanks for any help.

This statement tells me you likely don't have everything configured correctly:

Please post images of the Unitrunker voice and signal role VCO windows and an image of the command window running DSD(+).

On the second VCO tab,

a. set the "Audio Output" to your PC speakers.
b. set the "Digital Output" to your VB Cable input.
c. set the "Rank" to something like 50.

A rank of zero effectively mutes voice following. For DSD(+) to benefit, it needs the audio from the digital output - which is where Unitrunker sends digital calls - since they need to be processed differently from analog calls.

Thanks for your help. Alas it didn't trigger DSDPlus to start decoding. I'm wondering does dsd attempt to Decode any audio stream. Should I see some output from dsd or does do nothing if it can't Decode a particular stream? I am so close to getting this to work, I had heard some analog chatter but that was only from unitrunker. I'm wondering if you could have a quick look at the system spec I'm trying to monitor and tell me if dsd should be able to Decode the feed or if I'm wasting my time. Also should I only have 1 virtual audio cable channel? Or two? The particular system I'm trying to monitor is MTS fleet net.
If you type that in search on radio reference it should pop up.
