The battery indicator on my BCD325P2 comes on prematurely… as soon as a half hour after I install new disposable, brand name, batteries. It will sound the telltale beep and shut the radio down. The batteries test new after I remove them from the radio. However, the radio will still work using the programming cable to supply power, with or without batteries installed. I haven’t discovered any setting I may have inadvertently set that would cause this to happen. I have ruled out temperature as a cause as this happens indoors or out, a/c or 90 degree F. Any help?

I believe I have corrected the errant battery indicator issue I experienced. After looking for a battery indicator setting where I could adjust at what level I could set the low power warning to activate, and finding none, I decided to do a factory reset and reload my programming files. The radio is now chugging along without giving false low battery indications.

I was going to say thanks for the help but after posting twice and receiving no reply’s, I will skip the “thanks” and just say if anyone else is confronted with this issue, try a factory reset.

No problem. I never thought the factory reset was a solution, instead, thinking there was some other setting that allowed the end user to choose at what level to activate the low battery indicator… maybe the tech bench uses some combination of button pushes while powering on the radio (like we do with factory resets), known only to them that opens a menu where that function exists. I know in the past there were hidden menus for other radios that were discovered and posted and thought it was worth an ask. But since there were no replies, I regrouped and asked myself what options were available. Only one came to mind… send the radio in for repair… even if the repair cost was 25% or more of the cost new. So I resigned myself to getting it repaired. With that in mind, performing a factory reset before I sent it in shouldn’t hurt anything. And as I already had the programing backed up, I went ahead with the factory reset and then reloaded my programing. To my surprise my faulty battery indicator problem disappeared. Now all that’s left is to see how long it holds. Thanks for your comments.
