I've noticed the last 3 days that the control channel has changed every day and twice today.

Scanning since the 70's to today.
This is getting to be a very expensive hi-tech litterbox to hide (insert appropriate word here).
I'm sure the proponents have serious issues with the FD not wanting to be a part of it.
This game has only been going on since the launch of the original system back in 1992.

Denver PD CC's
Do all I need for Denver PD/FD CC's are the 20 freq's I have in there now? For some reason I have 24. The other 4 am not sure what they are for but they are 866.18750, 866.58750, 867.12500 & 867.65000. Should I take them out of my scanner?
I can't seem to hit Denver unless I get down by Longmont, farther north I can't hit them. Is there anyway I could pick them up? All I have is the rubber ducky antenna on the hand held 106 and the regular antenna that came with the base 197.

Yes, take out the 4 866. freqs, there are only 20 now. You cannot hear Denver very far out of town because the simulcast system covers only the metro area, rather than being on Mt. Morrison as before.

If you don't already have the 800 MHz RS duck I recommend it for distant 700/800 reception for the PRO-106 .
Most of the time Denver is unreadable in S. Greeley. However signal conditions on 800 MHz are variable and usually early in the morning when skies are clear I can hear Denver PS fine. As the day goes on signals degrade around 9 to 10 A.M. and all bets are off on the PS system for the rest of the daylight hours. Some evenings conditions are good most are bad until late evening and early morning.
DIA's simulcast system is marginal and I can lock on a CC 90% of the time. Aurora is similar to Denver on needing good 800 DX conditions.
Basically turn on the radio and check the TSYS for Denver and see if it locks.

Good a.m. I also am trying to zero in on Denver. (Programming software would be too easy). What are the 20 frequencies you are using for Denver? This control channel shuffle is killing me.

Dana, they are listed in the database. And the shuffle should be no problem, the scanner does the work.

Hi Dana. Welcome aboard!
The shuffle of the CC should not be "killing you." One you have the scanner programed it does what it needs to so you can monitor it.

Thanks for your response. It is becoming apparent I should be researching programming software for my pro-96. I've burnt enough time with the manual programming route! I tend to lean toward a pro96 program (as listed on scannermaster) along with a 20-289 cable. I've done fairly well with APCO25, but EDACS with their LCN order, and the frequency step skips gives me headaches!

Thanks for taking the time to assist me! I've jotted down the frequency listing and will try it again with Denver. I'll leave channel 00 empty and then add your list (in that order) to a clear bank set for EDACS.
Maybe I don't give the pro-96 enough credit!!

I do like the few drinks idea, but I doubt I could focus on all those little buttons....then again, probably couldn't do any worse!

The Pro-96 will no longer track Denver as it has ESK enabled. You will have to shell out another $500 for either a Uniden 396t/xt or a GRE PSR-500.
There is your answer Dana, your Pro-96 scanner will no longer work on the Denver system since they turned on ESK you would need a new scanner such as the 106/197 or PSR 500/600.
