I did think about it "for a Bit" and since it looks like it's getting out of hand, I'll help before it gets closed. You have no idea what I have in my radios or whether I'm applying a double standard.

Everything about the original post was ambivalent and respondents were doing the best they could with what they had. If the original information hadn't been so inconclusive, the responses might have been better.

Not understanding why you would even wonder if you could get into trouble if the radio was departmental issued to you by your agency? And, why would you come into the forum and ask this question instead of consulting your own company/agency? I would think your 'department' would be the first place to go with such a question. I must be getting old, as I am not understanding this thread at all....(?) Moving on to another...

I don't have a horse in this race but regardless of what you do, make damn sure your radio cannot transmit on any frequency you aren't authorized to use, otherwise you're asking to get crucified...

Yes, I am. That's part of my job. Making sure my employer and the employees follow the FCC rules. Since fines can be high, it's good business practice. Basically part of the reason they pay me to do this stuff.

All of the radios I have with work frequencies programmed into them belong to my employer. I'm the appointed person responsible for the FCC licenses. My phone number is down on the FCC licenses as the control point.

Any other questions you want to ask?

Wow Really ??

You know, some of us try really hard to give people accurate information backed up with proof. I don't understand the issue with that. I can think of times back in my younger years when I was given incorrect advice. Sure wish someone had attempted to steer me in the right direction, and backing that up with verifiable proof would have been really welcome. It would have kept me out of some trouble. Remember, ignorance is not a valid legal defense. Might get you off with a slap on the wrist, but it won't exonerate someone.

I get paid to do this stuff for a living. My job is to make sure people like the OP don't get my employer into legal trouble.

While I understand this is a hobby website, that doesn't mean that rules do not apply. Hobbyists, volunteer fire fighters, amateur radio operators, etc. are not exempted from the FCC rules.
