I was wondering if a Diamond SRH77CA antenna will fit my sds100 and improve reception

I don’t believe this antenna will fit on an SDS100. If you want something similar you could get the BNC version and use an SMA to BNC adapter.
I believe this antenna is designed for VHF and UHF so wouldn’t be much help for 800 mhz, but would help on lower bands (if it fit).

Diamond does claim the RH77CA (BNC version) is good for up to 900MHz for receive only, but I agree it doesn't perform well in the 686-868MHz band.
BNC version is RH77CA (without the S).

Having a metal lathe would give the look and the groove for the o'ring. How bad is the look?
Gold metal shows through and I did it with a Dremel so not a lathe quality job. Some black paint would probably make it mostly vanish.

What would be the best antenna for a sds100?
Depends on which band is most important to you. There is no works great on all bands antenna, but the RH77CA is a good compromise option. I use a REM 800 (with BNC base) since 800 is most important to me.

I am having trouble with sentinel. I downloaded the file but it will not open because "BCDx36HPSentinel incompatible program". I do not know what that means nor how to go about fixing it. I have windows 10. Can someone offer some guidance?

Not sure why that even came up. Is that Windows Home by any chance? As noted on the linked page, you may need to right click on the setup file, and choose Run as Administrator..
