Just did a search of pending coordinations on the FCC website and noticed a modification to add 11K2F3E as an emission for all the sheriff/PD department frequencies. The date of the transaction is 01-09-09.

Anyone up that way know anything more?

Would not surprise me a bit, they have a very large tax base (relatively speaking for a county their size) and just got a new dispatch center along with their new courthouse a few years ago. I will do some poking around, but the DCSO is pretty tight-lipped about these things.

11K2F3E is narrowband analog, not P25 digital.

My bad then. Misread the code. Although they would be one of the few in northwest Iowa that are not P25.

I'm going up there this weekend and I'll see if anything has changed.

OK... my source confirms there is some sort of radio upgrade going on in Dickinson County.

The county EMA board is still working on getting compatible radios to the people who need them. Apparently the dispatch center has had the equipment since the courthouse renovation project was completed.

It's unclear whether the system will be digital when completed, but as I understand it, they have the ability to switch over to digital with the new equipment.

Still getting details on this, but that's what I have so far.

I Had a Freind of mine in Spencer,Ia check for a Couple Hours Dickenson Co.
Is Still Analog For Now

It will of course take time to switch over to digital for Dickinson County -- if they choose to go that route. But to me, it doesn't make much sense to buy digital-capable equipment and not use it to its full extent -- so it's inevitable that they switch over whether it be tomorrow or a year from now.

But as my source said, they're still working on getting compatible radios to those in the county that need them so it will probably take a while since they're moving at the speed of government. I'm still trying to follow up on the information.

They won't be going digital for at least a couple more years. The dispatch center already has the capability of going digital but they are needing to get mobiles and handhelds.
