Hello,

I purchase from Radio Shack a Uniden® BearTracker 250-Channel Triple-Trunking Scanner Model: BC-T8 to start me a new hobby of radio scanning. It had very good reviews and sounded like it would be a good starter unit. After looking on this site I see that Hennepin Cty, MN is using the Allied Radio Matrix for Emergency Response (ARMER) system. If I am understanding, this is a digital system, will I be able hear these talkgroups on the model I purchased?

Thanks Mike, that was to the point. It will be interesting to see what I do pickup with this radio as I did not want to spend $400 just starting out.

You will need one of the newer digital scanners from GRE, Radio Shack, or Uniden for that system.

I'm sure you'll find plenty of other stuff to listen to. Then if you're still interested, you can sell that one and get the digital.

Hi jpawski, welcome to RadioReference :)

If you are within the thirty day return time frame, then return the radio and buy digital when you can afford it.
