What are the main differences in the Motorola APX6000 vs. the APX6000Li, if there are any?

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

The most significant difference is the APX 6000Li will support just one single trunking system only and will allow just one encryption algorithm installed.
That's not accurate, although the confusion is understandable given that Motorola didn't do such a hot job in making clear what QA02811 - 9600 or 3600 Single System Trigger actually means.
The QA02811 - 9600 or 3600 Single System Trigger option (present along with the QA02751 - APX Lite Option) means that you can only have 9600 or 3600 systems in the codeplug, but not both. In other words, the radio lacks 3600/9600 interoperability.
You can, however, have more than one system of either type programmed. So yes, the description is a bit misleading in that it doesn't actually restrict you to just one physical trunked system. You can program two or more systems, as long as they are all of the same type.
Some other restrictions of the APX 6000Li are:
- No Infrastructure OTAR Capability
- No Delta T (IP67 Ships Standard)
- No Color Housing (Yellow/Green)
- No Multiple Encryption Algorithms not including ADP; such as AES and DES
- No 3600/9600 Interoperability Option
- No Enhanced Level 2 Option Available

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your reply, but with a hardware module upgrade, the 6000li will do multi-key ADP & DES or AES. We have about 200 that are set up that way. You have to change the encryption setup to hardware and use a keyloader to load the encryption, but they can do it.
