• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I’ve been trialing the newer talk permit tone feature on my APX6000. All parameters are met for this to work… and it works fine when scanning is off. When scan is on I get the “bonk” more often than not and I have to press the PTT a few times to get a channel grant. Is there something in CPS that I am missing that may cause this issue when the radio is scanning?

In your scan list, is it set to "selected channel" or "talkback"?

Sorry, at the time of posting I wasn't near a computer so I didn't have the exact phrasing.

What is your "Designated Voice Tx Member Type"?

I *think* Convemtional TPT needs specific packets to be received from a repeater before the conventional PTP is emitted.

I don't believe conventional TPT will function on a non repeated channel

You are correct. My issue arises when the scan function is turned on. When the radio isn’t scanning the feature works perfectly fine.

Speaking of the TPT, I’m surprised the DVRS trick that works on the XTS5K series doesn’t work with the APX.

Not required for APX as it’s now released in the newest FW versions. FW 33… something I can’t remember exactly for ANs, and I believe after R30 or 31 they introduced it on conventional, and configurable on a per personality basis for P25 conventional

With the APX the TPT conventional is only though a repeater not simplex. The XTS DVRS was both conventional simplex and through a repeater

Ok, mine is 2 seconds. maybe try that and see how it acts. One second may not be quite enough time for the radio to decode the info from the repeater. Just a guess though.
Didn’t work BUT (of course I’m away from my computer when I thought of this) maybe my priority channel look back time (something like that) is too short? It’s set to 550ms currently. I have better luck when my selected channel is the secondary priority channel. It may be looking back while it’s also waiting for data from the system.

Late to the convo here, but the big issue with TPT is the REPEATER side, not so much the user. I cant confirm, but I suspect only Motorola Quantar style repeaters will send the correct data to enable the TPT on the end user side, AND the the repeaters have to have up to date firmware

Not sure what you mean by "Quantar style repeaters", but it works just fine on GTR8000's.
