BCT15X: Different DCS Codes-Same Frequency/Transmission

I have been listening to Air Evac 88 in Harlan, Kentucky on 3 scanners, BCT15X, 996P2, and 536HP. The BCT15X displays a DCS of 411, while the other two display 226. But its on the same exact transmission.

Does anyone have any idea why? This is the only channel that I've noticed this on.

Just a guess mind you but it may be deliberate. When two differing PL or digital PL’s are being used on the same frequency it may be that there are more than one transmitting sites, each site covers different areas in an effort to increase the total geographic area covered. You may just be lucky enough to hear both sites clearly using the differing DCS codes. If you were to omit the two differing DCS codes from your programming you may experience “simulcast distortion”, receiving both transmissions at (almost) the same time. The originating transmission has to go out to more than one site and the time it takes to get to each site is slightly different… because both sites are not spaced an equal distance from the originating transmission. That difference in time is minuscule, but just enough to create two signals being received… it’s like you trying to receive two different transmissions on the same frequency at the same time. Is one the the DCS coded signals stronger than the other? That would be a dead giveaway that you are receiving the two different DCS coded signals from different antenna (transmission sites.

You dont state which freq your on, but you are aware that agency is on both vhf and uhf freqs with different dpl and pl tones?

I do not see any 411 listed in the db. What freq are you seeing the DCS 411 on?

Just for the fun of it what happens when you put in the 226 DPL tone in the 15x does it receive.
Also the 536 and 996p2 are showing the same I would say the issue is with the 15x.
What firmware is the 15x running?

226 is the compliment to 411. Do Uniden scanners have a DPL polarity option?

Its on 173.325.

When I put in 226 on my BCT15X, it does not recieve

Actually, no. I dont have the cable that is necessary to update it.

The current firmware in my scanner is: 1.06.03

Could this be the issue?

It didn't come with one? (if this was new check the box again. It is well packed.

Current firmware is v1_07_00 Released 10/8/2021. While it does not specifically cite that issue, it is possible it was resolved.

I bought it new, but it unfortunately did not come with a programming cable as far as I can tell. Its been a while though

As I said, these are well packed. You have to look in all the nooks and crannies. (take all the cardboard out)
