Well 2 weeks before Thanksgiving my SDS100 fell and it stopped receiving and the screen was broken.
Sent off for repair, noted no RX and broken screen. Got it back last week but still had no reception then 2 hours later the battery latch broke. So i ordered a battery and battery latch. Installed new battery latch and test out scanner. Still no reception and the selector knob isnt working. Its doing that rapid up / down selection when you try to use it. Example my volume is at 5 its just flashing 5 to 6 to 5 to 6 when i turn the knob in either direction. Cant manually select systems as it does the same thing, goes up one and down one in rapid succession.

Bit disappointed in Uniden repair for not properly testing my unit before they sent it back. You would think if it came in with no reception they would test it for that before sending. The rotary knob on top was working fine when before it fell so not sure about that.

I used to manage a corporate phone / tablet repair warehouse and we had extremely low failure rate after repairs as we tested devices after repair then another tech would test before shipping. This 2nd test by a 2nd person would ensure devices were fully functional before going back to the customer. Service isnt what it used to be. Guess its my fault for not buying a 2nd one to have in case my primary breaks. LOL

Thank you for letting me get this mini rant off my chest.

I have the same problems as you have, the latch broke and the knob wasnt working properly and broke off.

Im apprehensive about sending it to Uniden, it will cost up to $40 CAD (maybe $5 USD, LMAO!!), Seriously its not cheap
