Hello All. Time for my daily quip. Years ago when the DMR offer came out at $50.00, I bought one key. They are not in either my 436 or 536. I put the code into each one, but it says number "invalid."

So now, of course, my new SDS100 will not accept the key either. Any suggestions? I was hoping someone would have an easy fix to this rather than me getting into the whole issue with Tech Support. (I'd rather not go thru that circle)

Thanks. Greg

Which scanner did you purchase that one key for at the time? That's the only scanner that you can use that key for.

Thanks guys. It was either for my 436 or 536, I cannot recall. Anyhow, neither of them will accept the key, so I'm not sure how to retrieve it. I'll look around some more at the Uniden Site for my purchases. Thanks. Greg

Thanks. I appreciate your help. I already have this license key, and double checked it with Uniden. It is the same number. Do I need to insert the dashes as well? I have not been doing so.

Were you able to find out which scanner you registered to purchase that key for? Is that the scanner you are trying to put it into?

If it's one of the BCDx36 scanners, follow these instructions from the Uniden site:

  1. Download and install the latest version of Sentinel from BCDx36HPSentinel
  2. Use Sentinel to upgrade the scanner's firmware and database.
  3. On the scanner, press MENU.
  4. Select Settings --> Upgrades, then press E.
  5. Scroll to DMR/MotoTRBO Upgrade, then press E.
  6. Using the scroll knob to select each digit and the 4 and 6 keys to move left and right, enter each digit in the unlock key (including the hyphens between digit groups). Then, press E.

Yes, include the dashes.. (y) It will only work in the radio that it was purchased for, which would be indicated on the myuniden site.

Thank you sir. I would like to do it tonight if, and hopefully, I feel better. I did not include hyphens, so that could be the fix. I hope so. I don't why its not already in the radio, as I remember putting it in, just don't know which one.

Menu..Settings...Upgrade...press Upgrade MotoTRBO/DMR...if it's installed you'll know in a flash.

If the radio already has the upgrade (The key was originally entered successfully).. It won't allow you to enter it again. It will tell you the upgrade is already active. [Unless it was sent for repair and had new boards installed or something exotic like that] It would not be lost after a firmware upgrade..

When you sign in at my.uniden.com, it will show you the specific scanner that you purchased the upgrade for. It will show the model number and the serial number along with the digital key for that specific scanner. Did you verify that?

Again, if you try to input that digital key into any other scanner it will not work.

THANKS! Please understand that my dementia and Parkinson's can make life a little tricky. I'm not complaining, just looking for an outlet when I do something not to smart. lol. Anyhow, it was not to be found in my 536. Then, I think instead of trying my 436, I've been trying to get it into my SDS100. Now I just checked my 436 and its all good. It has the upgrade.

I'm always sorry when I make people work to fix my errors, when I should have done it myself. I'm sorry about the wild goose chase, I appreciate all your help, and I am good DMR
