Do school projectors use Infrared (IR) signals? I know this isn't exactly "radio" related, but I was wondering if any of you guys knew.

You would need to know the make/model to actually get the answer
and since Schools Out for the Summer - no pranks

In the last few years, I've only seen two types:
IR remote control
IP (Ethernet) control.

The IP controlled versions are pretty expensive and often used in very large university lecture halls.

I'd bet you a spot of tea that the school you are at uses IR remote controls.

I was planning to use the Tv-B-Gone on the projector but I need to know if the projectors use IR signals. So do you think that the Tv-B-Gone will successfully work on the projector?

Many do, yes, for several purposes.
A “normal” IR remote control for on/off/input/etc and some older units have IRDA interfaces but they are getting more unusual. Some use IR for ranging and focusing purposes.

Are you perhaps considering mystery control of particular units? Have you heard of the “TVBeGone”?

Yeah, I was asking this so I could use the TVBeGone on the projector, haha. I previously stated that I was asking this for the sake of using the TVBeGone but the admins/moderators haven't approved the message yet. And I have an order purchased for one on Amazon - the EU version.

First @Adam_Franks wanted to hack his school's radios with his Baofeng and now he's trying to hack the school projector. Bet, as @n0xvz suggested in another thread, I'm sure Ms. Singleton (his headteacher) would be right happy to sit down with him. :ROFLMAO:

Oh dear.

I do like the idea of metric scanning though so I might give that a go. 😄

It's all fun and games until detention. Detention leads to Saturday Detention. That leads to 1980's movies.

And be wary of "double secret probation", that's the worst...

I guess school pranks have really advanced since I was a kid. Putting a tack on the teachers chair was pretty extreme in my day.

And for what legitimate reason would you need to do this in your school?

I think I see an imminent future for this muppet...
