FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: DATE: 10-09-08 TIME: 9:00 P.M.
On October 9, 2008 at approximately 9:32 A.M., Colorado State Troopers responded to a fatal crash on eastbound C470 ramp from University Blvd. in Douglas County. A yellow 1999 Honda 900RR motorcycle was traveling northbound on University Blvd approaching C470. A silver 2002 Toyota Prius was in the left turn only lane of southbound University Blvd. The Honda motorcycle entered the intersection on a red light and collided with the Toyota that was proceeding on a green arrow. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle upon impact.
The motorcycle rider has been identified as Randy Engle, age 29 of Littleton, CO. Engle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Douglas County Coroner. Engle was not wearing a motorcycle helmet.
The restrained driver of the Toyota has been identified as John Watts, age
51 of Centennial, CO. Watts sustained no injuries.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as contributing factors.
