I noticed a few things in the fcc database that are -eyecatchers-/ head scratchers. In Rockingham and Strafford counties, there is only 1 fire dept. that is liscensed to the Maine state fire channel-154.310 ( pl 192.8 ) (others say no pl,but I seen it ) Dover fire is lscensed to use it, but noone else. They are 2 towns away and the closer 1 -Rollinsford- is not..According to the database and city freq, Rollinsford is dispatched ny Somersworth We know thats wrong. From portsmouth to Milton, only Dover can use the Me.fire channel.Everytime they come to Maine--if it's a 'big' task, we all switch to the N.H fireground--154.280--136.5.. Makes me wonder how many other entities are -mislabled.-..Can anyone offer feedback? Thx

Which databases are you referring to? RR.com database doesn't indicate who dispatches Rollinsford specifically.

I was confused by your term "mislabeled". There is nothing mislabeled here. When Rollinsford applied for frequencies way back, thats what they wanted and/or got. It doesnt imply anymore or less than that. Thet may have shared with Somersworth before going to Dover.

FCC licenses are an important piece of the communication puzzle. But as said many times doesn't tell the whole story. There are many licenses out there like this.

They don't need to license, unless using a Fixed Base. ;)

Many towns have Signed Mutual Aid / Radio privledges, which would allow for the Mobile/Portables to be used without getting an additional license.

If Town A is already licensed and Town B will use the Freq for Mutual Aid into Town A and the Proper # of radios is listed in the FCC license [minor issue] then No License is needed for Town B

Ahh, yes Rollinsford does use Somersworth's primary channel, while doing station coverage..But there should be some kind of tie between Dover and Rollinsford. Their local channel isn't even listed---156.195,,136.5---simplex..Now that you mention it--I did hear that from a guy 5--7 years ago.( when he told me )..O.K, not mislabled--unupdated?

The FCC doesn't maintain Radio Plans.
They handle the License for the use of Frequencies

Channel Plans are a Local entity issue, and not even RR maintains that [except maybe a few in the Wiki]

Cities/Towns commonly share frequencies. It is quite Common for AreaCode 603 towns to have Police/Fire/DPW in all radios.

With many of the Volunteer/Call Towns the DPW Guy is probably on the fire, which is likely where this concept came from. The Freq is in the RR DB - altho with the wrong CallSign

We know, was wonderring why they aren't in the fcc databeas under the Dover Radio plan..ECPS92 explained it..All good..
