Hey All,
I just received my Miltenna LP.This is a real nice antenna...Put together very well,
very sturdy, also very lightweight. Performance wise UHF air very good.I can hear stuff on UHF air that I can't hear with my Diamond Discone at the same height.VHF mil air
(136-145) very good.I am also picking up my 800 mhz trunk system with full signal bars. The VHF air (118-136mhz) does take a little hit signal wise but remember this antenna is tuned mainly for 225-400mhz.I am about 25 miles north of BWI airport and am able to pick up UHF and VHF controllers.Even my VHF low (30-50mhz) comes in pretty darn good. I am using this antenna with a 100' of LMR 400 with a Male N & BNC male connectors.Overall this is a very good antenna... Nice job Dave

Thanx,
Jack

Here is a link to a bad review for the mil antenna. Thought you might want to check it out before buying.

I think that was an earlier design...doesn't even look the same. He bought it back in 2001. It seems that guy has issues with a lot of vendors/people/things!

This was clipped from his web site:

Not to turn this into a bridge club meeting... But my biggest crime seems to be that I had the audacity to disagree with him in a private exchange, that no one else ever even saw. Next thing I knew, I was his new project. Nuff said about that...

The original vertical was never bad... But yes it was discontinued, because the new one is better. Onward and upward as they say.

Very glad you like the antenna Jack, and thanks for the support guys. I've always worked very hard to try and create items that people will like. It's nice to hear the positive stuff.

I also just picked up a DPD Productions LP 225-400 Mhz antenna. I'm using it with times MW LMR 400 cable and a AR 5000A+3 Communications receiver. After hooking it up and connecting it to the radio it all came alive like I have never heard. When he says in the instructions NOT to have any metal near the antenna he means it. I had a ST-2 mounted jsut above it. I took it off and I can now hear stuff I never heard before. I can hear the dispatchers for ATC as well as Tower dispatchers. The radio came alive. It also works very well on 453 Mhz and 460 Mhz, and 118-138 Mhz. I recommend this antenna BUT use the Times MW LMR 400 which can be found on eBay as it's losses at the above frequencies are even better than the spec states. Otherwisw yopu lose all your signal in the cabl;e. There's a lot of LMR 400 from Chinsa that is bootleg and does not meet spec. The radio, the Times MW LMR 400, and this antenna is the way to go if ytour serious about MIL AIR. You won't be disappointed. Next comes the rotor.
