DPS Radio Issues?

Anyone know what's up with DPS radio?

I haven't heard a blip out of AZ WINS a couple of hours and UHF has intermittent carrier. Haven't heard any voice traffic in a bit.

When I say "intermittent carrier" I mean a very consistent, brief squelch tail.

I’m getting the same thing here on several different frequencies. Have not heard a thing all day on UHF, I’ll crank up the AWINS radio and check that out.

Has anything rather major that you know of happened? Maybe they switched to an encrypted channel for a while

I was getting ready to pull out another radio to listen on UHF as I was hearing the same in my truck, I was thinking I had a radio problem at first.

Not likely. I can still hear some very noisy traffic on the UHF channels, but can only hear Metro Central, Metro East and a very noisy Metro West from my location off of the 51 and Northern Ave. The normal traffic is trying to break through the interference.

If anyone has O Deck programmed check that. If they are off the air for some reason for system maintenance (?) perhaps the Phx area districts are using O or H Deck. I know in the past LO agencies have used O while there system were being worked on…

AZWINS may be starting to come back online. I'm hearing some traffic off of Shaw. We'll see if it continues. I sure hope so.

Sounds like AZWINS is good, too. That was very strange. It would be a very odd time to do radio maintenance. Not sure what that was all about, but happy it's back.

Same thing seems to be happening again today, minus the squelch tail on the UHF/analog. Not a blip off of WINS/Shaw Butte.

It could be anything. I'm just not sure what. Unfortunately, I can't receive another site from this location. I don't get much of the UHF from here either.

Not really, I'm in Ohio. I just can't figure out what they'd be using in place of it.

Hi, radiochuck,

Monitoring AZWINS on the Thompson Peak site from Anthem. Seems to be normal traffic so far, mostly DPS and DOT comms today. Not hearing much on the conventional UHF side, though.

@clover509 Interesting. Maybe it's just a Shaw Butte issue. I'm monitoring the full database and still not a peep. Same with the other radios on faves lists. Unfortunately, we don't have a good outdoor antenna, so Shaw is all I can get. That's usually great from here though, since it's just up the road.
