SDS100/SDS200: DSD 200-Favorites delay time changes to match the System delay time?

Hello everybody. I was thinking that the favorites delay on a SDS-200 could be set to zero seconds and the system could be set to what every you want. But system delay forces favorites delay to match. I am using Proscan. Do I have a misconception about how this works? What I want to have happen is scanning with zero delay between favorites and then a 2 or 4 second delay on system when there is a transmission. thanks for any info.

A slight misconception… as long as the scanner is in scan mode, it will scan your Favorites Lists without any delays when it goes into the next FL. (Anytime it changes into a FL that contains a trunked system there may be a slightly longer time moving to or leaving a trunked system, but there is no user option that controls that… the scanner is scanning as fast as it can.) Just set the delay times you see for each system in your talkgroups.

Delay/hold has nothing to do with favorite lists.

On an Uniden SDS200 scanner, "delay" refers to the time the scanner waits after a transmission ends before resuming scanning, while "hold" refers to the time the scanner remains on a specific site or channel after a transmission.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

  • Delay:
    • This setting determines how long the scanner lingers on a channel after a transmission is complete before moving on to the next channel or site.

    • A positive delay value means the scanner will remain on the channel for the specified number of seconds after the transmission ends.

    • A negative delay value means the scanner will resume scanning after a certain amount of time, regardless of whether a transmission is ongoing.
  • Hold:
    • This setting controls how long the scanner stays on a specific site or channel before moving on to the next.

    • A hold time of 0 means the scanner will move to the next site/channel as soon as the current transmission ends and any channel delay has expired.

    • A longer hold time means the scanner will stay on the current site/channel for a longer period, which can be useful if you want to listen to a specific site or channel for a longer duration.

    • You can also use hold to pause scanning on a received signal until the signal disappears.

You could add " if no call activity are detected."

If the squelch doesn't detect any RF carrier it will instantly go to next frequency programmed to the site, to try any secondary control channel frequency. If it doesn't detect any RF carrier, as if it is out of coverage, it goes instantly to the next site or system. For analog systems it is adding the hold time to a department and scans all channels in it in a loop until the hold time runs out.
  • Hold:
    • This setting controls how long the scanner stays on a specific site or channel before moving on to the next.

Where do you see favorites and systems delays? Can you post some screenshots so we can be on the same page.
sorry I meant "Hold Time". thanks everybody. I think I understand now. sorry for the "delay" in getting back to everyone. I changed the "hold time" to zero and at least the scanning to the next favorite is much faster. I also realized there is only one type of hold setting, not two. I just got my SDS-200 and I am still reading the Uniden manual, the "Easier to Read" manual, Sentinel manual, Proscan manual... I picked a hell of a day to give up sniffing glue.
