I am currently using DSD+ FL to decode statewide utilities P25 P1

in the event window I get this message

Affiliation Request; Tgt=1160 Scr=SYSTEM [SYSTEM]
Affiliation Request ACK; RID=1160

I see this a couple times every day. What does it mean? Thanks

It's the system checking to see if an idle radio is still out there. The first message is the system pinging the radio, the second message is the acknowledgement by the radio. If you don't see an ACK message, it means that the radio is no longer active at that site. By default, a Motorola ASTRO 25 system checks idle radios every 12 hours from the last time they were active.

Awesome! What's odd though is that rid is the only time it shows up in the log
Probably a radio that sits on a desk and unused. Sometimes dispatchers have a radio to hear how they sound or in case the console has a hiccup

The opposite of odd, actually. Because that radio is idle and has no other activity like transmitting or changing talkgroups, the system will check to see if it's still there every 12 hours. Radios that have any activity within a 12 hour period reset the timer with each event.
