I decode TRBO using the -xr boot switch. I made a link on my desktop and used this for the command line: c:\dsdforwin\dsd.exe -xr

This allows DSD to expect an inverted TRBO.

I got tired of running a ubuntu box to run DSD on, so I decided to compile it with cygwin for windows.
Provoice decodes are working fine with my pro95 discriminator tapped and running into my logitech g110 keyboard/usb sound card.

Get yourself a DVB-T dongle and use it as an SDR.. Get a pair of em if you want to listen to trunking.. Still cheaper than a properly tapped used scanner.

Could one of you please help? I have been trying to decode Mototrbo with dsd. All I get to is errors or last line saying"Audio In Device: /dev/dsp" then the cursor flashes and nothing happens.
My setup is winxp, CreativeAudio PCI ES1373.

What am I doing wrong? I have been trying all combinations in the command line. I even tried the mototrbo batch file list a few pages back. Nothing. No success yet.

It sounds like you have the soundcard setting correct or it would say so. Do you have a p25 system you could tune in to see if you could at least get some sort of decoding going.

Sure don't. The county and city just went Mototrbo from analog. There is not a P25 nearby. Everyone here is really going for the Mototrbo.

I thought you could at least confirm your audio tap and sound getting to DSD. P25 would at least scroll the control channel data.

1300 isn't doing his part before asking for help. He needs to verify that (a) audio is coming into his sound card, that (b) the audio level in isn't too strong or too weak and that (c) teh waveform looks appropriate.

If I were him, I'd download and install Unitrunker. Then I'd use Uniscope to view the waveform of the incoming signal, take a screenshot, and post the screenshot. Some people [not me] can immediately look at a waveform screenshot and see whether the signal is good or not.

DSD likes an INLVL of somewhere around 25-35 (if youre using DSD 1.6 at least). If your incoming audio is any hotter than that, or any weaker, then you'll need to boost or attenuate it accordingly.

But the first thing that 1300 needs to do is actually verify that his tap is providing a proper signal into his sound card. If it isn't, no amount of fiddling around is going to make DSD decode.

Even assuming that the tap is perfect and that incoming audio is at a perfect level, 1300 is not going to see anything in DSD unless an actual TRBO tranmission is active. And then, assuming one is, he isn't going to hear decoded audio if the system itself is using one of the forms of encryption. And if 1300 is using a weak PC to do the processing, then even if all other things are perfect he isn't going to get great decodes if the PC can't keep up with the processing.

First things first -- make sure your tapped audio waveform looks like it should on a TRBO signal.

Sorry man. There is no way Im going to download a download manager or other potentially risky software from a website just so that I can download the video.

just copy and paste the www portion and it takes you to the page then click the blue box for the mpg video.

if not. I am not sure how to explain my situation.

I am doing what I can. I do not understand the uniscope stuff or waveform.

I have tried the java version as well without success.

My tap is from a maxtrac pin 11 and 7 with the discriminator jumper moved to the appropriate side. Then connected to a jack where my male to male stereo plug cable into the sound card line in jack.

Keep in mind that DSD requires that your default sound input (recording) device be set to the audio input that your discriminator tap is plugged into.

So go into Control Panel --> Sounds and Audio Devices --> Audio
- Sound Recording --> Audio Device

make sure the audio device is selected that has your tap plugged into it

Then click on "Volume" underneath it to make sure the appropriate line is selected (microphone in, line in, whatever jack your using on your sound card). And adjust the volume from there so that it isn't too "hot" or too "weak" as its being fed into DSD.

Also, the default output (playback) device should be to your output device (your speakers).

DSD4Win uses _only_ the default input and output devices as configured inside your Windows OS.

After you do the above, you play around with that same volume tab (to adjust line in or mic in volume) while watching the DSD screen [while a TRBO signal is active]. You should see something spewing down the screen, and you should see lines that contain INLVL. You'll want to adjust the input audio so it is somewhere between about 25-30 INLVL.

All that is done. Got some but it will not hold it. Maybe it is the radio. I got 3 line at one setting but will not do anymore. Very frustrating. What do you think about the maxtrac. It is not narrow band. Even though there is nothing around the current freq.

The volume on the java side seems to fluctuating too much with the audio signal meter provided with that.
Also, I am not sure about the short data burst that is going on in regular intervals.What could that be?

What do I got going on here? It still will not hold it. It is very rare I get a line.

Update: Got it scrolling good now. No voice decode now. There is a hissing sound in with the audio. What could that be?
