DSDPlus DSDPlus Setup

Might have bit off a little more than I can chew with this one.

End goal: see if I am close enough to monitor Kentucky State Police

Currently: Running 2 RTLs on SDRTrunk, works perfectly.

So, I've taken my stream down trying to play with DSDPlus today, free version since FastLane is full now.

So I've downloaded the KY.csv and placed them in my DSD fold and changed FMP24.cfg to reference those, so running FMP24 I hear noise and it scans the freq in my radius I put in.

Now for the Conv P25, I've added the following to DSDPlus.freq... file,

P25, 123, 1, 9, 460.3125, 460.3125, 0
P25, 123, 1, 9, 460.2875, 460.2875, 0
P25, 123, 1, 9, 460.4375, 460.4375, 0
P25, 123, 1, 9, 460.225, 460.225, 0
P25, 123, 1, 9, 453.500, 453.500, 0

BUT 1. FMP24 doesn't seem to scan them, I get conformation in DSD that 6 freq are loaded.
2. My TCP link is giving a connect error 10061 (No connection could be made because target machine refused)
I'm remoted into the same machine so the target machine is the same machine the program is running on.
I've made exceptions to my firewall and disabled it completely with no change.

I'm sure it's very much user error on my part.

You kind of lost me @NewbGuy if using FMP24.cfg you don't need your KY.csv, all you do is add the control channel freq in the FMP24.cfg, or any freq and change to the cc once you start it. Once it locks onto the cc it will automatically scan through the voice channels.

It's possible I don't need FMP24 might be using the wrong one for my system? There are no CC it's a P25 Conv (multicast?) system I believe, where each tower transmits out on a different freq.

You need a frequency to start FMP24, but it sounds like what you need is a scan list, which is different from FMP24.cfg, look for FMP24.Scanlist and after DSD+ starts press S.

I had already started down that road after I posted this so, now I'm hearing some static (not sure if its calls or not) but DSD+ isn't linking to FMP24 which was my second issue.

Was using FMP24 then DSDPlus, just tried using the FMP24-CC and got RTL Device #1 in use and clicked ok and it closed the program.

Also make sure you aren't trying to run it with other SDR programs running. Restart your PC if you have to.

DSDPlus does not utilize the dsdplus.freqs file for p25. Its handled automatically by a different file after tuning to an active control channel on a P25 system.

no P25 frequency data is required in the DSDPlus.frequencies file,
but you may manually add frequency data for your own reference
(DSD+ will ignore any P25 frequency entries that you add)

Your state is building out a P25 system at the moment.

There is usually radio communication with Monroe and Lawrence County, but it’s typically from EMS or the police department. You might also find information about local businesses on frequencies like 467.850 and 467.975, and sometimes at the big stores. But sadly they took away they took away the radio coverage from their main fire dispatch.

I’ll get that updated, I just assumed it used defaults if nothing was there.

From my research their still using the old UHF P25 conv system and haven't completely switch to the new system yet.

So maybe I worked through it.
Updated FMP24.scanlist
And I noticed when starting FMP24.bat it showed 3 dongles, even though I only have 2. So I changed from -i1 to -i2 and was able to get past the error.
Is there a way or reason to use 2 dongles since it’s not a trunking system?

Any way you can take the screen shots from that pc instead of remoting in, or make them full screen?

I can when i get home. I currently think I’ve got it working.
Just curious what imput and outputs need to be on DSDPlus. Notes say for digital you need TCP link so i think i might have issues with mine there.

If your going to do any play back thru Trunking Recorder or Rdio Scanner,



Th FMP24-CC.bat and 1R.bat should look like this.



I use i0 to select the first available dongle. You can change the 935.0 freq to anything you want but pointless if your going to use Fmp24.scanlist. Once your Fmp24 and DSD are linked, click title bar in fmp24 to focus, then press s to start scanning the list. To stop scanning, hit esc one time.

You can put conventional P25 channels in the frequencies file if you intend to create aliases for the radios seen. The frequencies would serve as the key to match a pseudo Net ID to a list of aliases.

I was able to use i2 or i0 either and get it to run successfully. I’m unable to do much testing since I’m in a valley and I don’t believe I can reach either tower close to me.
