This is from my default DSDPlus.siteLoader:

; DSD+ system/site loader file
;
; you can edit this file while DSD+ is running
;
;
; line format:
;
;
; trunked network entries:
;
; protocol, networkID, 0, "network name"
;
;
; trunked site entries:
;
; protocol, networkID, siteNumber, "site name"
;
; for TIII, siteNumber format = area.site
;
;
; conventional channel entries:
;
; Conventional, pseudoNID, pseudoSiteNumber, "frequencyInMHZ protocol channelName"
;
; note: "Conventional" can be shortened to "Conv"
;
; recognized conventional channel protocol names:
;
; Analog (NFM analog)
; FM (NFM analog)
; AM (AM analog - must be supported by FMPx)
; D-Star
; Fusion
; NXDN48
; NXDN96
; DMR
; DCDM
; dPMR
; ProVoice
;
;
; trunked site entries can be copied directly from your DSDPlus.sites file
;
;
; frequency data for P25 trunked sites has to be present in the DSDPlus.P25data file;
; manually tune to P25 control channels to auto-build the DSDPlus.P25data file
;
; frequency data for non-P25 trunked sites has to be present in the DSDPlus.frequencies file;
; this data has to be manually added to the DSDPlus.frequencies file by you
;
; frequency data for conventional channels must be present
; in every conventional channel entry in this file.
; Conventional channel data does not have to be added to any other DSD+ data file
;
;
; data for any site or channel can be present more than once,
; i.e. favorite / frequently monitored channels/sites could be duplicated at the top of this file
;
;
; examples:

P25, BEE11.123, 0, "Mulberry PS"
P25, BEE11.123, 1.1, "North"
P25, BEE11.123, 2.2, "South"

Con+, 1234, 0, "ACME"

Conv, 1, 2, "163.830 P25 FBI"

Conv, 1, 4, "442.200 Fusion"
Conv, 1, 5, "462.500 DMR"

Yes. In a P25 system, the RS Subsystem (RFSS) is tied to the site number and can be used to separate a large system into regional systems under the same system ID. Therefore the format is "RFSS.Site#". It will decode this way in DSDPlus and is also listed in the RRDB showing the RFSS and Site#.

BTW, the instructions say that files can be edited while DSDPlus is running, but it is not a good idea. If the program does an autosave while you are adding information, your new information will not be saved. Best to stop the program before editing the various data files.

Note that we had downloadable DSDPlus.sites files for supported systems on each downloads page for Trunked Systems (premium subscribers)

but not for all type of Systems (DMR,NXDN). For the Quebec Province, I have only DSD files for P25 Renir and Hydro-Quebec.
it would be great to have the DSD files (frequencies, sites, Groups, etc) for all the systems in the DB :D

I do it all the time and haven't noticed any issues. Edited group or radio aliases show up on the DSD+ windows as soon as I save my edits, so I even get visual confirmation that they've been picked up. The other files, like networks, sites, frequencies don't even get written to by DSD+ so how am I going to lose an edit?

I've had it happen. Started typing something in the .radios file and then an update came in (new radio) and lost my edits. Keep in mind, I'm using EditPad Lite which is not like Notepad in that it respects the currently open file. So if an outside edit comes in, my changes are gone. Notepad will just overwrite and any changes coming in from DSD+ will be lost. Normally not an issue though.

I assume DSD+ is aware of when notepad has the file open, It waits for you to close it before writing to the file. It may not have always been the case.

No, DSD+ won't. It doesn't have an Exclusive Lock on the file and Notepad doesn't put any kind of hold on the file.

Fixed by not using that editor, or if possible, by changing its behavior.

No, you can delete the entire contents of the groups or radios files while DSD+ is running and it doesn't "forget" what it already has in memory. Next time it updates the file, everything comes back. Super easy to test...
