BCD325P2/BCD996P2: DT3 Programming

I have recently come across a frequency 165.1375MHz, that shows up as DT3 on the screen when search the band, what is the right way to program this in to my BCD325P2? I undertand it is DMR Tier 3 trunking.

You probably have to use DSDPlus to decode the control channel data to see the LSN's for the voice channels and find out their frequencies and you then also can see any frequencies for adjacent sites.

When you have the frequencies you can use the DMR TIII LCN calculator here in the forum to get the LCN needed for the scanner to allow trunk tracking. You can also enter all frequencies found as a One Freq Trunk system to monitor conversations without using trunk tracking, that in most cases are not actually needed.

If you have a 435/536/SDS scanner you can also use its LCN finder.

The LCN vs LSN converter is easily found with a search in the forums. This converts DSDPlus slot numbering to Uniden channel numbering.


Your best bet is to use one of the DMR monitoring software as mentioned in a previous post.
There are 2 ways channels are numbered in a Tier III system.
First is one based on a band plan. Typically, you get seemingly random numbers like 177, 295, 2037. They are calculated by the frequency using the base frequency and step.
Second is where the numbers are assigned by the system manager. With this you may see 1, 2, 3, 4 or 11, 21, 31, 41, etc. This way is more difficult to figure out as there is no calculation to fill in the blanks

Some systems transmit the channel/frequency information and the scanners are able to use it. If this is the case, simply programming the control channel will work. If not you will need to program each channel.
