• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I believe it means the scanner will track the following types of trunked systems:

Dual = Motorola and EDACS
Triple = Motorola, EDACS and LTR

If I'm wrong, someone will correct me - :)

InlandAz,

Thank you. That makes sense. My Pro 95 is Dual-Trunking. I can get Motorola and EDACS with it.

Multi, Dual, Triple, ...

I feel that these terms are STUPID marketing terms. Dual trunking SHOULD mean that it can track two separate trunks at the same time. Unfortunately that is not the case.

My PRO-92 is called "Multi-System Trunking". It can receive Motorola (type I, type II & type I/II hybrid), EDACS and LTR type trunks.

As someone else wrote, our PRO-95s are called "Dual Trunking" and the manual states: "Simultaneous Trunking Operation — tracks two trunking systems (Motorola and EDACS) and conventional systems at the same time."

The PRO-97 is a "Triple Trunking" scanner; as like the '92 it does LTR.

I have two of the RS TripleTrunking base/mobile scanners, and they are awesome! Not only will they receive all three trunks when properly programmed, but they also follow the conventional scan...and all at once. The downside of the Pro2051 trunking scanner I have at home is that it receives on the Motrola trunk. That's fine for listening to Odessa...but with Midland on EDACS, that requires at least a dual tracker, and the 2051 will listen only to either trunk or conventional..one or the other but not both. The triple tracker does it all and has a fantastic range.

For the last poster in this tread the Pro-2051 will track trunked systems and conventional channels at the same time. I think you may be talking about the Pro-2050 base scanner, since this was a early trunk tracker. The 2050 only tracks Motorola systems. The 2051 does all three major type of trunking used in the USA.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Hill, you are correct. I was referring to my 2050. The 2051 does simultaneously monitor trunk and conventional and is the triple tracker.
