Hello all,

I'm trying to use dual watch while decoding ft8 using wsjt-x but it's now working (at least not like i want it too). In the picture below you can see that dual watch is activated.

The main band is used to decode ft8 on 40 meter and this is the band i see in wsjt-x. The main band is the active band. The sub band is set on 20 meter and is grayed out meaning it's not the active band. I thought i could make the sub band active to scan 20 meter while still monitoring ft8 on the 40 meter band. Unfortunately when i make the sub band the active band wsjt-x switches to the frequency selected on the sub band.

Is there a way to force wsjt-x to stay on the main band even if it's not the active band ?

Many thanks

While the IC-7610 has two receivers, it only has one transmitter and that one transmitter has to be on the "main" band (left side) unless you have SPLIT enabled.

WSJT-X is probably sending/receiving CI-V commands for the main band. You'd have to modify the CI-V command library that WSJT-X uses to get the software to communicate with the sub band.

Here's a somewhat related trick...As I recall, the audio from the IC-7610's internal USB sound card is stereo with one side of the radio on one audio channel and the other side on the other channel. I believe you can set up two instances of WSJT-X and have one of them monitor the other band.

I understand that there is only transmitter. My problem is that wsjt-x receives CI-V commands from whatever band is the active band and not from just the main band or sub band. In other words i want to force wsjt-x to used only one receiver no matter if it is the active receiver or not.

I don't think it would be possible to have 2 instances of wjst-x for the same radio because wsjt-x communicates only with the active receiver

You'd have to change the CI-V library that WSJT-X uses for your radio.

The second instance of WSJT-X that I mentioned would not have control of the radio. It'd just monitor the otherwise unused audio channel.
