A chase in the Capitol Hill area took a weird turn as an OCPD officer was pursuing a possible stolen vehicle. The lead officer reported hearing guns shots but didn't see a muzzle flash. He then said cancel the reports of gunfire as it was probably just his radio. The suspect car wound up crashing near Central and two suspects got away. They first detained someone who was acting like he lived in one of the neighborhood homes. The guy just acted nonchalant about the whole thing. They decided to go ahead and take him in for questioning and he then came clean in the car. Meanwhile an officer had a chance to look at the lead officer's car and he said, "Dude, you've been shot, you have bullet holes in your car." So that put a different slant as now a misdemeanor eluding just changed to felony attempted murder of officer. So the guy in the ar starts singing like a canary blaming his supposed buddy who got away. So they later find the gun near where they arrested suspect #1. So that guy realizing he's about to go down for life in front of the firing squad rolls over further on the other guy. He provides a cellphone number and says the dude may try to call his girl to pick him up. So they start looking for her car and pull over a few girls driving that car, which by the way appears to be the favorite car of all Latina girls in Capitol Hill. So AT&T provides pinging information on the dude's phone and they go on a wild goose chase that I don't know the results. This was around 1AM by then and I went to bed. Morning news reported they didn't find suspect #2. So the first officers believe that he never existed and #1 gave a phone number of some innocent friend who happened to be in Bricktown at the time.
Anyway, original suspect is going to get charged with a felony anyway.
