Duke Energy has service areas that cover two large portions of SC. One is the Upstate region (that includes Western NC) called Duke Carolinas, the other is the northern Pee Dee region into parts of east central NC called Duke Progress. Duke has a new radio system being built out in these regions. The system is already operational in their territories in Ohio and Florida. The new system database entry can be found here: Duke Energy P25 Trunking System, Various, Multi-State

While this radio system is P25, it's a Phase II system that uses TDMA control channels. There are no traditional scanners that can monitor this type of system at this time (including the SDS100 and 200). SDR decoding software DSD+ Fastlane and OP25 both support this format, as do some of the BlueTail Technologies receivers. If you have access to any of these applications or devices, you can help identify new sites as they come online.

I have already identified a few sites in the Upstate region and these are listed on the database page today. If you are a hobbyist in the northern Pee Dee region (Chesterfield, Darlington, Sumter, Lee, Florence, etc) that has the capability to decode these control channels, please search the 854-860MHz band and report results.

Worth noting that a few in-the-clear talkgroups have been identified during testing, but the vast majority of talkgroups on this system are encrypted.

The system WACN is 91F14 and system IDs in NC have been 3D4 and 397, but may be different in parts of SC. Please note that, at this time, only DSD+FL, OP25 and BTT devices will be able to decode the TDMA Control Channels (which are different from TDMA Voice Channels).

Talkgroups seen include 2479, 16392 (both believed to be radio techs setting up system), 62001, 62002, 62016, and 64201.

I really hope those able will take 30 minutes of there time to search the 854-860 MHz band and see if anything new pops up. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Would be to much to ask Uniden to do a Firmware update for the SDR100-200 to get a TDMA Control Channel option!

I was in the Rock Hill area this weekend and was able to identify a new site in Lancaster County, and it has been added to the database.

Most sites are now broadcasting neighbor site information, which provides clues for other sites that are, or may soon be, online.
