Regardless of which channel it records the duration shows all zeroes. It shows that its recording when audio is present but I cant figure out what i've accidently changed and didn't realize it.

Any suggestions?

There lies the problem. Even when there isn't activity you should see a baseline green if you're connected to a mic input. Check Windows sound mixer. Make sure the input isn't turned down or muted. Check the USB device itself for the same. Which audio output are you connected to on the 996p2 itself?. Because you have the skip silence box checked on the recorder tab, the recorder won't record & therefore files won't show duration when there's no sound coming through

Couple more things to check, if your USB sound card has separate inputs for mic and headphone, make sure the cord is plugged into the mic port. If it has buttons for volume and to mute the mic, check those as well
