Hi just setting up a DVMega. Hotspot. Having no luck getting D-Star to work. Could get the hotspot to operate ok on direct commands and receiving but the radio would not talk to the hotspot.

In desperation I added a -5K offset to the frequency. Suddenly my radio can now talk to the hotspot.

Anyone had similar experience.

I have heard people say that in order to work through a simplex hotspot with an Icom D-STAR radio, you have to program a channel in the radio with a repeater offset and then set the offset to 0.

Yes that’s the guidance I read.. But in my case it needed a real offset. Possible the Icom radio that won’t work a repeater with no offset. I noticed that if I set no Duplex the hotspot did not appear on the repeater list. So I set 0.0 : radio appeared to transmit but maybe only normal fm nor dv ! Adding a small offset looks to have fixed to problem. Just wish I knew more as too why!
