From KUSA:
GYPSUM (AP) - An old tire may have contributed to a rollover accident on Interstate 70 near Gypsum that killed a Mesa State College student.
Colorado State Patrol Cpl. Dennis Gibbons says 19-year-old Enrique Gutierrez of Mancos died when he lost control of an SUV following a tire blow out Saturday. The SUV skidded into the median and rolled 2 1/2 times. He was wearing a seat belt.
Gibbons says the age of the right-rear tire may have contributed to its failure.
Two back seat passengers who were not wearing their seat belts were ejected but survived. A front seat passenger who was wearing a seat belt also survived.
All four were students at Mesa State College. One passenger was airlifted to a Denver hospital. Her condition was not immediately known.
