East Aurora NY PD

Not new to scanners but I am struggling with my recently acquired sds100 to get East aurora PD on Saia net to give me audio. I even had a group member near me send me his .hbe file for East Aurora. I put it in my favorites, I turned it on, locked out all my other favorites so I was just scanning that. Squelch is at 2 but went down to ZERO with volume up to 9.

I can see the signal meter go up to 4 bars and a rssi of -68 or so. but no audio. I even turned off filters.

I'm sure it's operator error but haven't figured it out yet.

Do you see tg 513201 pop up at all on the screen at all?

do a ID search instead of a scan and see if you hear any activity on the east aurora site. There is not much activity on that site at all. I have gone 2 hrs without hearing east aurora PD on it at times

Do you see tg 513201 pop up at all on the screen at all?

You're assuming right...513201 TGID pops when I press DEPT....I will have to let it scan a while to see it consides with a signal,

Your scanning a trunked system and if your only scanning the one site, you should pretty much see constant signal if you have a good lock on the control channel. When the tg is active, the scanner tunes to a different freq know as a voice channel and the signal may change slightly.

The EA Site isn't a booming signal compared to other sites, I'm "not far" from it, and I even have issues at times. Also, we're talking about EAPD, not Buffalo, so, it isn't uncommon to not hear anything on the radio for hours, especially in smaller departments. The best I can say is to lock it onto the EA site, get the best possible signal for it, and wait. My 436 with an SRH77CA probably about 10 miles away as the crow flies, struggles to get the signal, while my roof discone usually gets it pretty well. If you are unsure about the EA site activity, First Student has been pretty active, as well as AMR, on it. AMR has a unit contracted to the Village of EA, so assuming there is a unit in the area affiliated with that site, AMR Suburb Ops will be active, to help verify you are getting Site 4.

What I would do, is set your scanner to "Discovery" with SaiaNet - Site 4 as the site, see what you get, and work your way in from there. I don't use the "tag" or "DEPT" function at all on my scanner, so I'm not much help there.

Just to update, it is now receiving East Aurora PD. No changes, imported files appear to work. Just needed to park on it longer and WAIT.
