What exact freq did you have. The Omni is good, but not that good unless it was one of the uhf freqs..

124.500 EAST APPROACH. Heard it a few times last night. I never caught who it was, but voice was loud and clear and stated "Offutt". I was shocked needless to say.
I suspect they where way up there for me to hear them.
My assumption on distance is suspect after some thought.
Will keep listening and try to zero in next time.

I'm not doubting that! I have a Flight Aware antenna and dongle that I have setup before and was "seeing" flights into Missouri, Nebraska, MN and all of Iowa. That's just set on the same tripod as the Omni at only about 10 feet. I plan to get both of them up higher and permanent next spring.
Of course conditions are a factor.
