I see Edison PD Dispatch has been added to the DB, on the Middlesex Co TRS showing "Te" Is this correct?
The PD Dispatch talkgroup has been in the database since April, it was not added today.

Lower case "e" indicates partial or part-time encryption, not "in the clear". Perhaps the source who submitted it will chime in, but that's how it was submitted.

Could you not just listen to it for yourself to verify?

If I could receive the system, I would not be asking the question on here...... I was under the impression that Te meant Encryption could be activated, at will, but not Strapped Fully E. (so that would indicate comms could be in the clear)

Richee, I could be wrong, but I also take it to mean 1-sided E. North Haledon(last time I listened), and Ringwood on their simplex NXDN frequency, had dispatch encrypted, but portables/mobiles in the clear.

Yeah, I think the "e" designation is open for many different interpretations.

I was just wondering if Edison police had any communications in the clear on their dispatch channel, that's all.. if anyone has an answer please let us know...

Edit: N Haledon, it was actually dispatch in the clear, units E. And @richee2000 unfortunately I am not familiar with anything down that way, including them. Sorry

I can neither confirm, nor deny that Edison Police are currently in the clear or encrypted...

However, what I can confirm is that Fire Main from Edison TRS (UHF) is currently patched to Fire Dispatch on the Middlesex County 700 system, along with Fireground 1 (UHF) patched to Fire Ops 2. As for the police, well one will have to keep their ears and eyes open. As Forrest Gump would say "And that's all I have to say about that."

From the database administrator handbook:

The intent of the lower case e is to indicate that encryption is selectable/optional, not to indicate that a few clear transmissions were heard because a radio was programmed wrong. If the channel/talkgroup is meant to be secure, then the upper case E should be used, regardless of whether a clear transmission sneaks through every blue moon.

As I thought.....

So farewell Edison UHF. The switch to 700 occurs today, and it’s been nice hearing Edison Police being dispatched for the past month and a half on the County system. Today, they are scheduled to go back to the dark side.

havent listened to much PD traffic in a few years due to the E, except for Somerset county whom is majority in the clear, most of my monitoring has been FD and departments that are mutual aid for us, so having edison FD on the county system has been nice to be able to add to my G5.

Edison 5 Site P25 TRS has filed the required yearly report for an extension. Reading this it is not clear what the future holds.

The County built (2) new sites in Edison for Edison. Surely Edison won’t be leaving the County TRS?

Sub sites to be built perhaps to be absorbed by the County using the Edison license? @X9009X

Edison has no future plans to build out any sites, nor the County. They are on the County TRS to stay. Using RF engineering propagation tools you cant add anymore sites with out causing self interference.

Thanks, must be kicking the can down the road, keeping spectrum.
