    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

EF Johnson 51SL ES - Firmware Update Required

Hello and thank you in advance for the help with the below!

I have recently gotten myself an EFJ 51SL ES. Below is the currently programmed firmware version:

Firmware Version: V 6.8.6

With this is mind, I found myself drowning in information courtesy of the below site:

However, neither the firmware updaters present in the above link have allowed me to update the firmware (which would allow me to use PCC 2.18.06), or the PCC version 2.10.02 (which is the compatible version for firmware 6.8.6) have downloaded successfully.

Basically, I either need to find a way to upgrade the firmware to the 6.16.04 version, or find a download for 2.10.02 PCC that I can successfully download as the w9cr version of both these options have thus far failed me.

Any tips on this would be appreciated and I am hopeful somebody is able to correct a silly mistake I've likely made :)

Are you putting in the device that puts the 53ES into firmware update mode before you plug in a program cable/box? If the radio your trying to update is backlit when you try the updater this is probably the problem.
